In a Blink of an Eye – 2024-2025

This series solidified my practice: Temporal Psychoexpression—a ritualistic approach to painting, principles of which I derived from various meditation practices. One specific type of meditation – focused transcendence facilitated by special sound recordings (Monroe sound science) influences my creative process the most. I started meditating to reconcile with my fear of Time and making art became a natural extension of the meditation: I receive information while in meditative state, and I express that information visually through texture, color and shape.

The pouring of my spackling paste-based primer mimics the expansion feeling of the meditative state: flooding the surface of my canvas like an unrestrained current. Layering watercolors mirrors the accumulation of experience and memory. Finally, I punctuate the work with hundreds—sometimes thousands—of small strokes, applied with a brush or acrylic marker. Each stroke represents a fraction of a second, a heartbeat of creation, I often count them in the process (if so, then total count of strokes is referenced in the title). That beat, the rhythm of the strokes, forms a temporal pscychoexpression: the imprint of vibrational energy I experienced at a particular time, while tuned into a particular frequency. “In a blink of an eye” is like a collection of precious gemstones – it’s a collection of connections with wonderful tunes of particular places at particular moments of time.

By fusing scientific method with contemplative exploration, I aim to turn my artwork into an infographic of consciousness, a record of the frequencies of time I experience while being me.
